Lewis, L'Engle, and Life

For the times that I need to let myself create:

"In literature and art, no one who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it." -- C.S. Lewis

"I do not have to be qualified to do what I am asked to do, I just have to go ahead and do it, even if I can't do it as well as I think it ought to be done." -- Madeleine L'Engle

I've been reading these two authors lately, and getting a *lot* out of them. Particularly Madeleine. I think she's amazing, and I identify with her more fully than just about anyone I've read. Then last night, I discovered that Geddeth, one of the actors in Noises Off who also worked with us as a dialect coach for Red Herring (and has done many many shows on and off-Broadway) actually knows her, and has worked with her! Yowza...For those who don't know, she wrote the Wrinkle in Time books. She rocks.

I just spent a highly satisfying couple hours by the Susquehanna river, in the town park. So beautiful today.

One more quotation, just right for today:

"At moments of wonder, it is easy to avoid small thinking, to entertain thoughts that span the universe, that capture both thunder and tinkle, thick and thin, the near and the far." -- Life of Pi

I'm gonna go write a song.
