Creeping up on 23 years...

Yeah, so, I'm never online anymore. Never even IN my official "home", really. I came home today for the first time in a week (spent the weekend in NYC - yay!) to find 2 voice messages from a former director, trying to offer me a job! I should come home more often! It's a summer job, I think, and I can't do it, but I was honored to be considered - it was Martin, the director of my last show on the BTE mainstage, Red Herring. He rocks. Nice to get some validation from someone I really respect.

Tour's pretty fun - only 2 more weeks, but these are gonna be the tough ones. Lots of early mornings and a couple overnights. PLUS I got drafted to work crew for Noises Off, the upcoming show. Not in my contract, but I'm doing it. It's cool, I won't have to work every night and I dig the people I'll be working with. Haven't been on a crew since sophomore year of college, I do believe! Wow! Jeremy's doing it too (for a wee bit o' $$), which means he'll stay through the rest of my internship instead of leaving in 2 weeks when tour ends. Happy about that.

New York was FABULOUS. Saw a play for free (Roar) at the theater my sister works box office for - pretty good. Good script, mostly great actors (Annabella Sciorra, moderately famous, gorgeous). Jeremy's first play in New York.

Saw Assassins on Broadway. My first Broadway Sondheim, and I just about died. I didn't know the show; now I adore it. We had "box seats" at Studio 54 for cheap from the 1/2 price tickets booth - this means we sat RIGHT next to the stage, way over on the side but soooo sooo close and right under part of the orchestra. Fantastic. Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie! I made him a juice at the cafe when I lived in NYC last year - he was doing Cabaret then) was in it - did a surprisingly good job. The rest of the cast was pretty all-around amazing. This revival is brand-new - still in previews. I was so very glad this was J's first Broadway experience - we couldn't have asked for a better one.

And finally, saw Poor Theater by experimental, always unique company The Wooster Group. Had to climb a ladder to get to our "balcony" seats - that can't be legal. But it was fun! We studied them a bit in school, and I saw another show of theirs last year. Passed Toni Collette (star of Muriel's Wedding, among other things) on the street just outside their theater in Soho. We were thrilled. I never have random celebrity sightings, so this was special.

Shannon's coming to New York in June, and I get to show her around. She's never been, so it'll be cool to break in a newbie. :) Looking forward to seeing her too, as it's been several months now.

Doing laundry - then it's off to watch Eddie Izzard's (that is the glorious man pictured on this page) "Circle" DVD - YIPPPPPEEEEEE! Birthday present from the folks...the big day is Sunday.
