prev # Sunday, Jul. 18, 2004 2:15 p.m. # next Welcome to CharlestonWhee! Too busy to write much lately - or rather, too disconnected. The only internet access I have is at work (a few minutes here and there) or at the lovely Charleston County Public Library (where I am now - nice new building!). So for those living in angonizing suspense, waiting for my next entry of substance, you may have to wait awhile longer. In other news, my finances are bleak. We finally got our first paycheck on Friday, and though we've worked for 2 weeks, we only got paid for one. And one week's pay at this job is incredibly pathetic. But it's nice to know that even if I'm totally broke I won't get evicted or anything. No rent to pay. Auditions for the first half of the season are tomorrow. We have to read scenes from the shows and sing a song...I pretty much already know which roles I'm going to have (most other roles in the shows are cast by local actors except those saved for us interns) - the only scary thing is that I know if I don't get them it means I *really* screwed up. So wish me luck. I am guaranteed 3 roles in the season, at least. I'll post it all when I find out. The kids are fun - the summer theater camp that we're teaching, producing Seussical the Musical - but stressful. I'm surprised to discover that I like working with the high school kids. I thought I'd like the little ones more, but when there's 30 3rd graders it gets to be a bit much. Life is good - I'm having much less trouble adjusting to this place than I did to Bloomsburg. Having 5 other people my age in the same situation (who are all cool and fun! yay!) helps a lot. I keep comparing the job itself to BTE and coming up a little short, but that's the way it goes. I'm happy so far. |
