In my lovely Princess lodge

Been here a week, and all is well. Had my first run thru in costume yesterday - which was only my second run of the show at all, and came after watching the show a lot more than doing it. But a lot of the cast has done it multiple years, so watching them is helpful. I've just never learned a show this way, and I'm not used to watching someone else play the same role I'm playing. Kinda cool though.
Also being prepped for the dinner service, which at first will be more stressful than the show itself I think. We do the whole serving dinner & doing a show twice a night. It'll be tiring for a while, but the money makes it all worth it. Finally. We serve "in character" - sort of. Basically that means we just have to be high energy and fun and wacky and playful and all that. I think I can handle it, and right now I'm glad I have a good amount of waitressing experience too. Yee haw.
Everyone seems to think it's shaping up to be a great year; we had a show for Princess employees last night and made almost as much in cash tips with ONE show than we usually make on TWO-show nights. Maybe a good sign. I think we have a good cast, and they keep talking about how the dance numbers are already cleaner than they ever were last summer. We have worked on them a lot, and I feel pretty good about that. When I get a wee bit discouraged by the ridiculous script, I just think about how many of these people have been coming back year after year, and I listen when they say that it really is a lot of fun in the end. It gives me hope. That and the $12-15K I hope to leave with in September. Whee!!
Seriously considering a move back to NYC. As always, I have a number of friends there, most importantly my sister, and I'm feeling the itch again. With that money it'd be a good time to go. So it's either that or the Peace Corps....yeah. I know. I definitely want to do that someday, I'm just not sure if it's better to go now or do NYC for awhile again first. Hard to decide. Since the Peace Corps application process takes 6-9 months though, and I won't really be able to start that until I return to the "lower 48", I might as well do something else through the winter & spring, right? I dunno.
Almost finished with C.S. Lewis' autobiography "Surprised by Joy". He's such a fascinating character. I think this will be a good summer for reading. Also need to break out that dang guitar again.....perhaps I will be sufficiently inspired by the scenery to write another song!! Peace out
